The Book of Philippians

"Don’t despise the difficulty, the tragedy, the tough time, the setback, the heartaches — for those are the times you will understand that Jesus is truly risen. When the day is dark, the waters deep, the outlook grim — you’ll see Jesus."

Good Morning Verse!

Hello World!

"Come and listen, all you who fear God,

and I will tell you what he did for me.
For I cried out to him for help,
praising him as I spoke.
If I had not confessed the sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened.
But God did listen!
He paid attention to my prayer.
Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer
or withdraw his unfailing love from me.
"
(Psalm 66:16-20)

Searchlight by Jon Courson

"Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy." (Ephesians 4:24)

Notice the order here: first you put off the old, then you’re renewed in your mind. In other words, you decide you’re no longer going to walk like those who are involved in sin. And as you begin to put on a whole new way of talking, living, and behaving — your new lifestyle eventually becomes who you are. It’s not deception. It’s a decision. People who are like Christ have made a conscious decision to put on the new man, to put on Christ— and they become what they have chosen to put on.

If I merely sit here and wait for something to happen — for my personality to change, for my heart to feel loving, for my soul to feel kind — I’ll wait forever. I’ve got to make a choice. I must choose to be compassionate. I must choose to be loving. And as I do, I become compassionate; I become loving.

Verse Of The Day

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)

Psalm 103

Hello World!

I woke up thanking the Lord today! I was such in a good mood, I could not wait
to do devotional! I prayed and praised the Lord. This verse below is a reminder
of how we should praise the Lord for every circumstances in our lives. Whether
good or bad, we should praise and rejoice in His name, because we know that
He answered our prayers, He wants us where He has us, and because He
wants what is only best for us. When we are facing adversity, do not look
at the problem and grumble. Thank the Lord and praise Him, and remember
what He has done for you :)

Let all that I am praise the L
ORD;
with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the L
ORD;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.
He redeems me from death
and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle's!
(Psalm 103:1-5 [NLT])

Wonderful Windy!

Hello World!

"Today is the day the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it!" (Psalm 118:24)
Where ever you are right now, whatever it is your doing, and whatever it is you are going through, believe that God has you where He wants you :)

I felt the wind today. So what? You might add. Well, I live in Las Vegas, and you can imagine the weather we have on Summer. HOT! No humidity and dry air! But today, the wind was cool and what we all needed. I felt the wind today, and knew that it was Him :)
I prayed and asked to feel His presence, and I did! I was surprised the wind came today, because I was not expecting it. Winds come rarely here...unless its Winter time.

When you thank God for your life, when you thank Him for giving you another day, do not forget to thank Him for having you be part of his Creation. When you ask Him to bless you with His presence, please appreciate your surroundings. Wherever you are. Before heading to my car, or class, I look at my surroundings, the trees, grass, flowers, birds, and just thank Him with amazement. The wind may be just a wind to you, but do not take it for granted-His Creation. You will never ever know that it is Him reminding you that He is there :)

Inspirational Stories for the Soul

I love reading inspirational stories. Don't we all? Inspirational stories are full of insights and wisdom. It helps heal and cleanse our soul. I found 2 that brought me tears. Enjoy :)

*THE SHADOW OF THE CROSS*

A young man who had been raised as an atheist was training to be an Olympic diver. The only religious influence in his life came from his outspoken Christian friend. The young diver never really paid much attention to his friend's sermons, but he heard them often.

One night the diver went to the indoor pool at the college he attended. The lights were all off, but as the pool had big skylights and the moon was bright, there was plenty of light to practice by. The young man climbed up to the highest diving board and as he turned his back to the pool on the edge of the board and extended his arms out, he saw his shadow on the wall. The shadow of his body in the shape of a cross. Instead of diving, he knelt down and asked God to come into his life. As the young man stood, a maintenance man walked in and turned the lights on. The pool had been drained for repairs.

*THE CAB RIDE BY KENT NERBURN *

Twenty years ago, I drove a cab for a living. It was a cowboy's life, a life for someone who wanted no boss. What I didn't realize was that it was also a ministry. Because I drove the night shift, my cab became a moving confessional. Passengers climbed in, sat behind me in total anonymity, and told me about their lives. I encountered people whose lives amazed me, ennobled me, made me laugh and weep.

But none touched me more than a woman I picked up late one August night.

I was responding to a call from a small brick fourplex in a quiet part of town. I assumed I was being sent to pick up some partiers,or someone who had just had a fight with a lover, or a worker heading to an early shift at some factory for the industrial part of town.

When I arrived at 2:30 a.m., the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window. Under these circumstances, many drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, then drive away. But I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation. Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door. This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to myself. So I walked to the door and knocked.

"Just a minute," answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 80s stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

"Would you carry my bag out to the car?" she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness. "It's nothing", I told her. "I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated". "Oh, you're such a good boy", she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me and address, then asked, "Could you drive through downtown?" "It's not the shortest way," I answered quickly. "Oh, I don't mind," she said. "I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice".

I looked in the rearview mirror. Her eyes were glistening. "I don't have any family left," she continued. "The doctor says I don't have very long."

I quietly reached over and shut off the meter. "What route would you like me to take?" I asked.

For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, "I'm tired. Let's go now."

We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her.

I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair. "How much do I owe you?" she asked, reaching into her purse."Nothing," I said. "You have to make a living," she answered. "There are other passengers," I responded. Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly. "You gave an old woman a little moment of joy," she said. "Thank you." I squeezed her hand, then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.

I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly, lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away? On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life. We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware--beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID, OR WHAT YOU SAID, BUT THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL.

"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.(Proverbs 15:1)[KJV]"

This verse always bring me back to my sophomore year in high school. I remember sitting in my Chemistry class.
A classmate of mine had said something, and within seconds, i responded with a sarcastic anger statement. My teacher, then said, "Proverbs 15:1, 'A soft answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.' Remember that."

Watch what you say and how you say it.

Birthday Verses :)

Hello World!

I just turned 24 today! Yay! The Lord our God is so giving, He blessed me with another year!
Also, this is my very first blog and my very first time blogging, so please bear with your amateur
fellow-ette :]p (feel free to hand me some tips!)

The whole purpose of my blogging is to share with y'all Bible verses/scriptures/passages, and what God puts in my heart to say about them. I strongly feel that I should tell you about my relationship with God, and reach out to you. Why keep a special relationship disclosed, especially if it's with our Wonderful Maker? Agree? Also! Please feel free to post any Bible verses/scriptures/passages/
prayer requests and even testimonials!!

My birthday verses:

"
...and if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find Him." (Deuteronomy 4:29)
Today, a friend of mine confided in me that she has been backsliding. She told me that she wanted to get back to God, and grow closer to Him. She's a struggling 21 year old single parent. She did not understood why she was going through so many hardships. All she wanted, was to get back to God, but did not know how. I told her "never stop going to church, go to Bible Study, prayer meetings, surround yourself with God fearing people, shut yourself from the world, give all your time and self to God, read, read, read, read the Bible and pray!" If you want Jesus in your life. If you want to come back to Him. If you want to grow closer to Him, all you have to do is keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking. Shut yourself from this evil world, pray pray pray pray, read read read and spend all your time with God. When you are driving to work, school, etc, turn the radio off, and talk to God. He is there. He is waiting and very much willing to listen to you. When you are at home, turn the T.V. off, get off the internet, go to your favorite quiet space, and read and pray and read and pray. Remove yourself from anything and everything that will hinder you from praising and worshiping Him. That's what it means to search for Him with all your heart and soul. You are willing to give up yourself. You are willing to sacrifice every single moment for Him.
He gave you blessings-small and big. He gave you what you prayed for. All He wants back is YOUR whole being, YOUR whole undivided attention, YOU!

"" ""Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." (James 1:22)
Practice what you preach. So self-explanatory. Do not be hypocritical and judgmental towards others, be it neighbors, loved ones or enemies. Do not preach them the Word and not follow it. You are not only fooling yourselves, but those around you! How else are you going to grow closer and deeper with our Lord, if you cannot even heed His Word. How else are you going to reach out to those who needs saving, hope and faith? Why call yourself a follower of Christ, if you cannot follow His commands. It is one thing to believe in Him, but it is another thing to follow Him.
I pray that I may not be hypocritical myself while I write this. No one said that being a follower of Christ will be easy. Jesus even said Himself that this walk will not be easy, but in order to run this race with perseverance, you MUST believe, you MUST have faith and you MUST obey.
You pray and ask God to test you, or ask for blessings. He gives it to you. It's right in front of you, but you miss it, because you could not even do one command.
Let us all pray that we may not be hypocritical or judgmental. Let us pray and ask God to give us His strength to obey His Word.

God said "If you LOVE me, OBEY My commandments.(John 14:15)"

Good Night! Sweet Dreams and May God Bless You Always!

xoxo
